Cruising is a Great Value Vacation

We frequently suggest a cruise as a cost-effective way to see many cultures, yet a FUN time for a couple, a family, or a group get-together such as a class reunion because of the numerous benefits to everyone of any age; they are not just for retired folks anymore. Most people find it to be an unusual idea and expensive, but we assure you it's a wonderful idea and is available at a great value.  Most cruise lines now have added facilities and staterooms to accommodate families and for the physically challenged. Consider that you only unpack once, and most cruises include all you can eat virtually 24/7,  your entertainment and your transportation from port to port aboard a floating hotel.  Activities on board include:  one or more pools, jacuzzis, and waterparks; shopping; games such as trivia and bingo; working out at the gym; different types of shows including Broadway shows, comedians, singers, magicians and the like; dancing; and music in many forms — poolside pop or Latin band music, DJs in lounges, piano bar entertainers, and nightclub entertainment.  There are classes (fitness, art projects, learning different types of dances, photography, etc.) and movies both in your stateroom and poolside on many ships; in other words, something for everyone.  Where else can you get lifetime memories with all these options for between $80 - $150 (and sometimes as low as $50) per person per day on average for basic accommodations?  Of course, you can choose to do nothing at all — lounge poolside or read a book on your balcony if you so desire.  In addition, there are "liquid lounges", casinos, spas, and specialty restaurants requiring additional charges.  A word of caution — cruising is addictive.

Getaway Dreams Come True Travel Agency has no shortage of exotic destinations!  There are even cruises to Antarctica, the South Pacific and African locations including sailing through the Suez Canal, and transatlantic and transpacific cruises.  The new hot spots include Cuba, Dubai, India, and Myanmar (river cruising).

A former brand from Carnival Corporation called Fathom™ Impact Travel, began "journeys of a different kind" in 2016 which focuses on improving educational, environmental, and economic conditions for the local community.  Carnival cruise line and other Carnival Corp. lines will continue sailings to Amber Cove near Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic to continue these impact travel experiences to benefit the local community.  Similarly, sailings continue by many cruise lines to ports in Cuba (Havana, Cienfuegos, and Santiago de Cuba to name a few) for people-to-people experiences as allowed and defined by OFAC (U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control).

Norwegian Cruise Line® offers year-round cruises through the Hawaiian islands, while many other cruise lines sail through Alaska from cities like Vancouver and Seattle. Alaskan cruises offer many types of wildlife and beautiful fjords, no matter what ports you visit and for the interior of Alaska, add a cruise tour. European ocean cruises sail from various ports in the Mediterranean to places of antiquity and also sail from northern ports through the Baltic.  River cruising is extremely popular through the heartland of Europe or southeast Asia.  Alternatively, Mexico is home to breathtaking Mayan ruins, and together with other Caribbean islands, is perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, or other water activities.

Group Cruising

Getaway Dreams Come True Travel Agency has access to group pricing on bookings through our host agency Cruises & Tours Unlimited.  Let us know if you would like us to set up a group cruise for your specific purpose such as a class reunion, multi-generational family vacation, coworkers, or athletic group. Most cruise ships offer inclusive wedding packages that can take place at the port of embarkation and some will make arrangements for a wedding at a port of call.  Group arrangements can be made for the wedding party and/or guests interested in cruising with the bride/groom.

River Cruising

There also are many cruise lines specializing in river cruising, most commonly in Europe on the many rivers there such as the Rhine, Rhone, Danube, Moselle, Volga, Douro, Seine, and Main.  Options available on some river cruises combine land transportation portions of the trip to additional cities and/or rivers for a more complete travel experience. Most river cruises include excursions in cities visited as well as wines and spirits, all onboard dining experiences, internet access and gratuities.  River cruise lines we utilize include AMA Waterways, Avalon Waterways, Viking River Cruises, Scenic, Uniworld, and Emerald, both in Europe and Southeast Asia.

Cruise Lines Offer Temporary Reduced Pricing

Many cruise lines offer "specials" or temporarily reduce prices on certain cruises or ships, especially those offering family cruise vacations, and we keep abreast of the most popular sales and list them on our Cruise Specials page.

Cruise Specials

We continually update the page as the reduced pricing changes frequently.

A Different Type of Cruise — Sailing Yachts

For a cruise experience unlike any other, try sailing with Star Clippers™ (Royal Clipper ship shown at the top as well as the video to the right). They have three sailing yachts and one new build for 2018, with itineraries in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, including the Panama Canal, as well as Transatlantic sailings. They have also returned to the Far East in 2016. If you want to climb the crow's nest, lounge in the bowsprit net, or assist the crew in raising or lowering the sails, ask about their 170- to 214-guest capacity yachts that stop at less visited ports of call. Another cruise line with sailing yachts which has similar offerings is Windstar.
