Timing and Precautions

Allow 2 to 2½ hours for a full unhurried tour of the City of David (though you can cover a lot of ground in less time). The site is in the heart of the predominantly Arab Silwan neighborhood, with occasional tension between Palestinians and Jewish settlers, but the layout of the enclosure and the security arrangements should dispel concerns.
