Crowds and traffic can make touring draining: try to do a few short visits rather than one long marathon. Half a day in the Centro is enough to take in the sights, though you could spend a lot more time caught up in the shops and boutiques. Office workers on lunch breaks make the Centro even more hectic than usual between noon and 2. If you're planning on hard-core shopping, come on a weekend. The area is quiet at night, and a little dangerous in its desolation.
